On Media

On Wednesday 22nd October the University of Plymouth brought together people working and studying in the media sector from across the region to the ’Formation Zone On Media’ event.

82 people attended this half day symposium, including media businesses, organisations, artists, students and academics from the University of Plymouth and other colleges around Devon and Cornwall. The event focus was to address current issues affecting the media and new media industries, share best practice, make new contacts, form collaborations and showcase talent.

The keynote speaker James Woudhuysen, Professor of Forecasting and Innovation at De Montfort University Leicester, gave a keynote speech on The Challenge of New Media. He said “It was an excellent event. Plymouth shouldn’t get too depressed by the economic situation at the moment - it has a lot to offer”.
