We are delighted to announce that Formation Zone has joined Plymouth’s 1000 Club. The 1000 Club is a network of local businesses that are committed to supporting people into careers in the city. Partnering with organisations such as Plymouth City Council and Jobcentreplus, the 1000 Club has provided thousands of jobs and opportunities for young people across Plymouth.

The 1000 Club was established in September 2012 in direct response to business feedback that young people are not ‘work ready’, regardless of their route to employment, and that businesses found the number of agencies and different incentives and schemes confusing. The 1000 Club’s aim was to provide a single point for independent advice and guidance with the web site providing an overview of all the ways that businesses can support young people with the appropriate contacts.

The 1000 Club immediately captured the city’s imagination and further to securing additional funding the Club’s activity has developed to meet the needs of business. The 1000 Club also disseminates the latest information on incentives and support available and provides a route to promote vacancies.

Eleanor Butland, Formation Zone Programme Manager said:

We are delighted to be joining the 1000 Club. It’s a great initiative that has made a real impact here in Plymouth by helping young people into work. Here in Formation Zone, we provide support that helps young people to establish their own businesses. By partnering with the 1000 Club, we hope to help even more young people to start their own businesses and become Plymouth’s employers of the future.
